BRANCH REPORTS – NOVEMBER 2017 NEWSLETTER

Golden Gate Branch:

On November 30th, the Golden Gate Branch and SF-EWRI co-hosted a
dinner meeting at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco. Matt
Bamm and Bob Dickinson presented “WeatherShift Rain: Designing for
Future Climate”.

This was our last dinner program for 2017. The Branch Board is
setting-up programming for 2018. If you have an idea for events for
the next year, please feel free to email the branch at
goldengate@asce-sf.org.

Thank you, all, for coming out to our meetings. Have a great holiday
season, and we’ll see you in 2018.

Debris removal, restoration and rebuilding are underway following the devastating north bay fires. Our Branch is working with the Structural Engineering Institute and the San Francisco Section of ASCE to develop a directory of available individuals and firms that will be searchable by specialty/skill set and services for fire recovery.

We are also continuing our sponsorship of the North Bay Science Challenge. Last year’s event had teams from 18 schools participate, providing a wonderful experience to that supported over 250 kids’ interest in science.

Please RSVP to rebasce@gmail.com for our December 14th noon luncheon at the Montgomery Village Cattlemen’s, 2400 Midway Drive in Santa Rosa. This month’s program will feature a presentation by John Locey, P.E. with an overview of public funding opportunities for water and sewer utility infrastructure. Cost is $20 ($10 for students).
