BRANCH REPORTS – FEBRUARY 2017 NEWSLETTER

Golden Gate Branch:

The Golden Gate Branch had its first meeting of 2017 on Thursday, January 26th, at Scott’s Seafood in Oakland. Ryan Dole, a transportation engineer with Kimley-Horn, presented the Latham Square Streetscape Improvements Project in downtown Oakland.

The Branch’s officers will be visiting two classrooms in West Oakland to teach students about Civil Engineering for Engineer’s Week. If you are interested in helping, please contact the Branch Board.

The next branch meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 23rd, at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco.

North Coast Branch:

The North Coast Branch thanks Jeff Nelson, PE and Sheri Woo, PE (CEO and Marketing Coordinator, respectively) of SHN Engineers and Geologists for giving a great presentation on the City of Eureka’s Martin Slough Interceptor Project that was recently completed. The turnout at Roy’s Club was spectacular with many public officials attending from the benefiting municipalities. We are actively reaching out to our local engineering and construction firms for support in preparing for Engineer’s Week events, including the development of a commercial that highlights successful projects projects. We anticipate Engineer’s Proclamations to be sponsored by all of the major nearby Cities and at the Counties of Del Norte and Humboldt. We will be hosting our annual Crab Feed on February 11th at Merryman’s Beach House on Moonstone Beach in Trinidad. There will be a no host bar social starting at 12:00 pm with the Award winning project presentation of the City of Arcata’s Trail and Foster Avenue Extension project. The presentation will be co-presented by the City of Arcata and GHD. Come out and enjoy the beautiful north coast!
