SEI Update

ASCE 7-16 Presentation by Ron Hamburger
ASCE/SEI 7-16 Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures is now available for purchase.  This edition of the standard, which will be referenced by the 2018 IBC, has a number of major improvements, including new Chapters on Tsunami loads and performance-based structural fire protection, a completely rewritten Chapter on Nonlinear Seismic Response History analysis, and many incremental improvements to the requirements for seismic, snow, rain, and wind loading.  On August 3rd, SEI hosted a dinner presentation in which, Ron Hamburger, SE, chair of the ASCE 7 Committee, provided an overview of these important changes.  Over 50 professionals were in attendance.

Officer Elections
SEI SF has enjoyed a momentous start under the leadership of the founding board members with numerous technical and social events held at various venues around the Bay Area over the past couple of years. It is now time to advance our beloved organization by nominating several active SEI members for some of the critical board positions as well as welcoming write-in candidates for all positions. Please cast your vote in the FY2018 SEI SF board elections and help us keep the momentum going. Your vote counts!   The ballot has representation of incumbents and new candidates.  The polls will close on August 18th, and so if you are an SEI member, we urge you to take a moment to review the ballot and cast your vote at:
